There are many processing requirements in the powder industry. With the increasingly fierce competition in the powder industry, more and more customers want to achieve more refined materials. The powder industry is also constantly developing in the direction of nano powders. Therefore, the previous single processing method is no longer applicable, so finding some related nano powder preparation has become a key issue for some companies.
The business community mainly uses physical mechanical grinding methods to make powder materials reach nanometers. That is, dry grinding and wet grinding. For nano powder manufacturers, of course, they hope to use dry grinding methods to obtain the final nano powder. However, when the powder is ground with a dry grinder, the temperature of the powder will rise sharply due to the introduction of a large amount of energy, and when the powder particles are refined, how to avoid explosion-proof problems is difficult for the grinder to control. Therefore, the wet grinding method came into being. The powder obtained by grinding with a wet grinder is the most effective and economical method. It avoids the high cost of chemical nano powder manufacturing and the deficiency of mechanical dry grinding that is difficult to reach nano powder. Generally, dry grinding can only grind to about 8um particle size. If you want to achieve finer or nano-level, you have to use wet grinding.
Dry grinding refers to the grinding operation in which the moisture content of the material does not exceed 4%, while wet grinding is to suspend the raw material in the carrier liquid flow for grinding, and appropriately add dispersants and other additives to help the grinding. When the moisture content of the material exceeds 50% during the wet grinding machine, the problem of dust flying can be overcome. However, wet operation generally consumes more energy than dry operation, and the equipment wear is also more serious.
Mechanical dry grinding is difficult to obtain submicron powder, and the cost of powder making is high, so wet grinding has become an important means of preparing ultrafine powder. From the perspective of practical application, there is no absolute difference between the two. The appropriate treatment method should be selected according to the actual product characteristics and economic benefits.
Zhengzhou Mining Machinery has been focusing on the research and development of grinding equipment for more than 60 years. It currently has various dry mills, wet mills, air-sweep mills, and new water-cooled jacket mills, which can effectively reduce the temperature of the mill during grinding, so that the dry mill can produce a fineness of 1-2μm, which is suitable for ultrafine powder production in alumina, new materials and other industries.
